Court allows attorney to give himself GBP7 million from mother's estate

The England and Wales Court of Protection (EWCOP) has granted an attorney's application to make himself a GBP7 million potentially exempt transfer from the estate of his mother, who has dementia.

 The EWCOP accepted that the estate would still be left with GBP10 million, amply sufficient to meet all his mother's needs; and that the gift would in accordance with the mother's presumed wish to save inheritance tax.
